Alli Aruna Spooner RYT-500, Director of Body Balance, had been an on-and-off practitioner since 1980, always returning when her health became compromised, but is now devoted full time. She is trained in the styles of Hatha Yoga and Akhanda Yoga, as well as Classical Kundalini, Prenatal Yoga and Raj Yoga. She obtained her 200-hour training through the Himalayan Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy. She completed her 500-hour training at the Anand Prakash Ashram in India through The World Conscious Yoga Family, founded by Yogi Vishvketu and Chetana Panwar. This past October Alli was an assistant at the Anand Prakash Ashram in India for the YTT-200 program offered by Yogi Vishvaketu. Her classes follow the traditional sequence of postures in the Akhanda style, with a focus on breath-work, alignment and safety, and includes a dash of humor. Amy Salthouse began her yoga journey 10 years ago and for the last 5 years has taught Hatha and chair yoga, emphasizing foundational asanas and breathing. She is certified in Restorative Yoga through Judith Lasater Hanson and continues to be inspired by workshops and fellow teachers. Amy is constantly amazed by the power of yoga and the ability to bring the whole Self back into balance. Her classes are full of loving support and compassion. Andrea Campos Smith began practicing yoga in 2000, and started teaching in 2008. She teaches in the style of Hatha, with careful attention to alignment and the use of props to develop the individuals' yoga practice. She has found inspiration in the power of breath, the intention to heal, and strengthening of the bodymind, and enjoys sharing that joy with her students. Candice Voynick RYT-200, has been practicing yoga for 12 years and teaching for 7 years. Candice began her studies in Phoenix, AZ and completed her yoga certification through Sarahjoy Marsh at Amrita in Portland, Oregon. Her classes are an eclectic mix of Anusara-inspired, vinyasa, and ashtanga. She brings yoga philosophy, pranayama and asanas into the class with compassion and joy. Connie Erickson began taking yoga classes in the 1970s. She has studied with over 25 different instructors and attended numerous workshops. Connie has taught a gentle yoga class, which focuses on breath work, in Roseburg since 2000. She is committed to continuing to learn from fellow teachers, students, and her own practice. Jaymee McDaniel began her journey into yoga after she realized she needed something more complete than her previous exercise regimens. Since that first class in 2009, she has progressed from student to teacher, completing a YTT-200 training through the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts in Tempe, Arizona. Focused on guiding students through basic beginners yoga, levels 1 and 2, as well as children's classes and yoga for pregnancy, Jaymee encourages her students to seek their truth within through meditation and pranayama during each of her classes. Her love for the holistic approach to healing the heart, body, and soul fuels her continuing education in complimentary health care. We are proud to have the following guest instructors helping out when needed: Amy Amoroso RYT-200, took her first yoga class at age 23 from Yogi Shanti Desai in New Jersey, at the Shanti Yoga Institute’s Yoga retreat. After this first 6-week series Amy was hooked. She continued a home practice found even greater depth when she moved to Boulder, Colorado. Then, after moving to Roseburg in 2004, Amy attended classes locally and took several winter retreats for meditation and yoga. In 2008, after 12 years of practicing yoga, she left a fulltime job and spent 3 weeks in Rishikesh, India, attending an Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga teacher’s training, completing a 200-hour teacher training with the Inland College of Yoga and also received a second certification from the Purab Paschim Institute of Indian Culture and Philosophy. Brook Eichman (stay tuned for her information) Kris Backes RYT-500, has been learning and practicing yoga for over a decade. She has had instruction in a variety of yoga disciplines, starting with a foundation in Iyengar alignment, and most recently in classic Ashtanga. She completed a 200-hour teaching certificate at Amrita: A sanctuary for yoga in Portland, Oregon with Sarahjoy Marsh; and also holds a 500-hour teaching certificate from Brahmani Yoga in Goa, India. Kris has been teaching since 2009 and her classes focus on using the breath while balancing strength and flexibility. Kris is currently studying in India. |
